on the Veluwe
The Veluwe is home to many fun attractions and animal parks. Most people are familiar with the Dolfinarium in Harderwijk and Walibi Holland in Biddinghuizen, but the Veluwe has much more to offer. To make sure you don't miss anything, we have collected the best attractions for you here.
Kröller-Müller Museum Spend a day soaking up culture at the Kröller-Müller Museum. Here you will find masterpieces by Mondriaan, Van Gogh, Monet and Picasso, among others. Besides the works of these legends, you can also enjoy presentations by contemporary artists.
The Factory Today, this Factory where dredgers used to be made is a true racing circuit. The real shredders can't have their fun with indoor drift karting, but there is more. Take the virtual reality centre, for example. Who is the king in dodgeball or scores the most points in Angrybirds? There is also a sports escape room. By playing different sports, you get to move on to the next room.
De Uddelaer Beer Brewery A nice cold beer. Do you like this too? Visit Beer Brewery the Udderlaer in Ermelo for a tour and a tasty beer tasting. The brewery started in 2015 as a hobby brewery in Uddel. This hobby, which got out of hand, fairly quickly evolved into a micro-brewery. Owner Jaqcues Brinkman (former world and Olympic hockey champion) developed an interest and appreciation for the artisanal production methods he learnt during his many visits to India and Pakistan. Consequently, this production brewery brews its beer in its own kettles. The brewery is 8.1 km from the hotel, so it is also easily accessible by bike, always nice if you don't want to hold back.
Scheepfold Ermelo In the middle of the Ermelo Heath you will find one of the largest sheepfolds in the Netherlands. The Ermelosche scheepfold consists of about 300 Veluwe Heath Sheep. Every day, the shepherd goes out onto the heath with his sheep. Here, the sheep can enjoy grazing and prevent the Ermelosche heath from becoming overgrown by bushes and vegetation. Next to the sheepfold is the Ermelosche Heide Visitor Centre. Here you will find information about the sheep and nature, but you can also have a nice coffee or buy local products, souvenirs and maps. Numerous excursions and activities are also organised. Take the Lamb Trail, for instance. A treasure hunt through the heath and forest around the sheepfold with all kinds of small assignments. Super fun for children up to 7 years old.
Wellness resort De Zwaluwhoeve Need to relax for a while? At Wellnessresort De Zwaluwhoeve you've come to the right place. Really unwind in the saunas, steam and swimming pools. The Zwaluwhoeve is 5 minutes away by car and 10 minutes by bike.
Hansel & Gretel
Hansel & Gretel is a magical pancake house and Playpark in Zeewolde. Moving floors, floating tables, a time machine and a huge witch's organ... there is plenty to do inside! The fun can't stop outside either. Swings, trampolines, bouncy castles and a go-kart circuit. As icing on the cake, there is also a ‘real’ candy house in the park. What would Hansel and Gretel be without it?
Chef Experience
Chef Experience is the perfect outing for the whole family. Here, the kids can play in the indoor and outdoor play paradise. You can sneak through the laser game maze, ‘escape’ from The Haven or The Oscar or sit back and watch the latest films in the Kok CinemaxX cinema.
Walibi Holland
Are you an adrenaline junkie? Just 25 minutes away is Walibi Holland. With 11 ‘thril rides’, you can really go ‘hard’ for a while. There is also plenty to do for the little ones. There are 20+ attractions for children from 6 years of age and ‘Playland’ is specially equipped for children up to 120 centimetres. Are you coming around Halloween and do you like a bit of horror? Then be sure to check out the Walibi Frightnights!
Dolfinarium Harderwijk
A 10-minute drive from the hotel you will find the famous dolphinarium in Harderwijk. The Dolfinarium in Harderwijk is Europe's largest marine mammal park. Meet sea lions, dolphins, rays, walruses and learn all about the underwater world here!
De Apenheul Do you like monkey watching? A 35-minute drive from the hotel you will find the Apenheul, a 12-hectare forest full of monkeys on the loose. So you can get super close to the monkeys. Don't worry, not all monkeys are on the loose. Monkeys like Gorrillas and Orang Utans are on large natural islands. So they don't have to be in cages and bars but you can still watch them safely. Did you know that the Apenheul is working for monkeys and their habitat in the wild worldwide? Many monkey species are threatened with extinction. The Apenheul Nature Fund supports various projects to protect monkeys and wildlife.
